So, it's 2017 and I haven't posted anything here since 2011. Blame Facebook ! But this is just a little test to see that it all still works. And for reasons that I'll no doubt elaborate on at boring length in due course, one of the the promises I made myself was to start a blog as an outlet for some hopefully creative, entertaining and informative writing.
But instead of starting a new one, I thought I would just kick this one off again. God knows a lot has happened since 2011 and a lot of it has been absolutely awful, but more on that (perhaps) later.
In the meantime I had to post a photo to see how that all works and I randomly grabbed this one, an album I got for Xmas in 1983 (I think?) along with the following album Sin After Sin. Two records, but particularly this one, that absolutely kick started my teenage obsession with metal, particularly the heaviest and fastest kind. I think it deserves a post of its own and it will get one later. Peeking out from below it is a cracking single from my new favourite Australian band Leadfinger, from Wollongong.
OK that's enough for a test I think, my idea is to try and write a series of articles on different topics (mostly music no doubt but I do have some other interests!) and publish at least one a week, I'll link to my Facebook page as well.
That'll do for now...still got to try actually publishing the thing!

Just an excuse to put these pix up
His new AC/DC t shirt that Nan and Pop bought him.
Just listening to some Stones rare stuff on Youtube.
Youtube is the blessing of the modern age and is an even better invention than internet porn.
I was discussing this with a couple of blokes in the pub on Friday (a very rare occurrence these days!) how back in Ye Olden Days like the 80s, you had to rely on magazines, books, very rare radio/TV exposure to hear about or see anything to do with metal, now you can just look at or hear anything from anyone ever.
Takes the fun out of it really. I lived for my mid-teenage trips into Sydney to go to Utopia Records and could still pick every (vinyl) album in my collection that I bought there. Some bands that spring to mind - Fastway, Black Angels, Black Sabbath, Dayglo Abortions, Venom.
Hmm I should go and cook dinner. Starvin, Marvin!

Umm yeah it's February and a lot's been happening
As you can see.
I should update this thing. The band's played two gigs - yes, the band. Oh didn't I mention them?
Family is having its ups and downs.
I was just thinking about a story before, well not a story but a tale of real events involving two young rockers. One was working in Tamworth, the other in Gunnedah, the world's most boring town. Oh did I mention that was me?
Anyway a few trips to Tamworth ensued. Two in a row involved us driving in my mate's car, out to a truck stop 10 ks out of town or so, after we'd been drinking already at the pub. There we drank cans of bourbon and coke, smoked a joint or two, and listened to The Black Crowes "Southern Harmony And Musical Companion". Some other music too but that's the one I really remember. What a fucking great album.
More later.

Middle aged married father of two

I dressed up for the occasion as you can see.
Yes, Madamoiselle Chairman Stormy Jr arrived today at 10.54AM, weighing 3.8 kgs and measuring 52 centimetres, after 4.5 hours of labor which my poor wife endured, although it was a lot better than Number One Son's 12.
So far all is good, they are in hospital overnight but will be home tomorrow once I trundle on down there in the automobile to collect them.
Probably should go to bed soon as it has been a big day. More later.

Stuff and Nonsense
Me at age 3 or so.
My son's now that old. 3 and 4 months to be precise.
A bit smashed. Oh well.
Had rehearsals today which kicked arse. We, or rather I, had a plan which involved recording and doing some new stuff as well as the set, but which didn't quite come off. We did the set though, or at least did every song at least twice plus a few more and a few bits and pieces we had to work on. All good in the end except maybe the vocals. Have to do some recording next week and see what it sounds like, but we sussed out all the arrangements today, so a good day indeed.
Listening to a bizarre set of tunes on shuffle from one of my Youtube playlists. Well they're (mostly) not bizarre songs, but a weird mix. You can see what I was doing on any given night when I was downloading them.
Only a few more weeks til the baby comes along. Due on 8 December - but Blondie and The Pretenders are due on 7 December ! As I said to my beloved, "RPA isn't that far from the Enmore". I sat out of arms' reach at this point in time.
Took Chairman Stormy Jr to swimming lessons this morning. Since this term started with 8AM lessons, this has been "Jack and Daddy Time", which is great. He's much better at swimming than he used to be, he behaves himself now (and is toilet trained!) and his swimming teachers have all been attractive - and nice- young women. The current one is Ella and she's excellent. She's really good with kids and Jack loves her, plus he's going really well with her.
After swimming we have breakfast in the cafe, which consists of me having a coffee and a blueberry muffin, and him having a 'cake' - these chocolate gluten free muffiny sort of things, with large coloured sprinkles on top. Now that it's nice weather we sit up on the deck and watch the races in the big pool. Jack loves the whistle (to get ready) and the hooter (to start the race). Every time one or the other goes off we have to have a discussion about it...the same discussion usually :-)
This is all very homely, isn't it.
Oh well I am a homebody now. No more 5AM nights out, getting home and sitting on the front fence smoking cigarettes til the sun comes up. Probably just as well !
I did get to play in a rock band today and drink a few beers and hang out with my brother and mates so it's not all bad I guess.
Just heard "Girl Of My Dreams" by Bram Tchaikovsky. One of the great power pop tunes every. Now onto "Another Day In The Sun" by The Moffs, a great piece of 80s Australian underground guitarama. If anyone ever reads this go and Youtube them.
