For those interested in terminating the life of pesky rodents, the trap next to the fridge did the job, used a scraping of peanut butter this time instead of bread.
Now as I am at work and all, I will have to cut this short and actually do what they pay me for. But I didn't want to leave my loyal readership in suspense.
